Mosier Named Next President & CEO of East Kentucky Power Cooperative
Don Mosier will serve as the next president & chief executive officer (CEO) of East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC).
Mosier has served as EKPC’s chief operating officer and executive vice president since 2010.
“I am honored to be selected as EKPC’s next CEO, and I look forward to building upon Tony Campbell’s legacy and his myriad accomplishments in leading our cooperative,” Mosier said. Anthony “Tony” Campbell, who has served as president and CEO since 2009, plans to retire by June 2026.
“We have an exciting future ahead of us. EKPC is building for the future by responsibly adding the infrastructure to meet Kentucky’s energy needs,” Mosier said. “I look forward to ensuring EKPC continues providing safe, reliable, affordable and competitive power for the next generation of homes and businesses. Today, our cooperative is strong and our future is secure. The 16 electric cooperatives’ that own EKPC can trust we will continue to do everything we can to ensure their opportunity is unlimited.”
Alan Ahrman, EKPC’s board chairman and District 4 director for Owen Electric Cooperative, said Mosier’s leadership will be key as EKPC moves forward.
“Don is a proven leader who brings a tremendous depth of knowledge, skills and experience to the role of CEO,” Ahrman said. “The next few years will be pivotal for our cooperative, as EKPC adds new generation and transmission resources to serve growing demand for electricity. Don’s leadership will be vital to ensure EKPC continues to focus on reliable, competitively priced power for the 16 owner-member cooperatives.”
EKPC’s board of directors has conducted a three-month search for Campbell’s successor, Ahrman said.
“We had many high-quality applicants, and we interviewed some excellent candidates for CEO,” Ahrman said. “Don really stood out among those candidates.”
“I appreciate the confidence the board is placing in me to continue execution of EKPC’s Strategic Plan, delivering the capital construction plan seamlessly and attracting others to join us while training and retaining the exceptional team we have today,” Mosier said.
He will take the position of president and CEO effective Monday, Dec. 15.
Prior to joining EKPC, Mosier served as a vice president of Ameren Corp., overseeing the company’s wholesale power marketing and trading subsidiary. He also has served as manager of business development and principal engineer for the former Progress Energy Carolinas (now Duke Energy) nuclear engineering and nuclear regulatory affairs units.
Mosier earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Virginia; a master of business administration degree from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School; studied executive management at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and is a registered Professional Engineer.
