For more than 29 years, Bob True, a native of Corinth, has served on the Owen Electric Board of Directors as the representative of District 3, Grant and Scott counties. “Service” has been a common thread throughout his personal and professional career.
Graduating from Grant County High School in 1963, Bob went on to attain his teaching and master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University by 1969, followed by his Rank 1 in 1971. Between 1967 and his retirement in 1994, Bob taught social studies and served as an elementary and middle school principal. Aside from education, Bob also ran a service station and motel for 20 years.
“I enjoy the opportunity to serve my community, and I’ve always loved just being around people,” Bob said.
Now, outside of his duties as an Owen Electric Director, Bob is active in his church, Corinth Christian, where he is an elder, Sunday School teacher, treasurer, and board chairman. He’s a member of the Kentucky Historical Society, as well as the Kentucky and Grant County Retired Teachers associations.
“I have a wealth of memories of people I have served with and for, and as long as I have the ability, I’ll continue to be active in my community however I can,” Bob said. “I always appreciate the opportunity to meet and talk with members each year at our annual meeting, but its also the weekly and monthly interactions, and being able to talk with people when they ask how things are going at the co-op.”
Bob has a daughter, Lisa, and two grandchildren, Jansen and Kacia.
